Reflective shoelaces – TYPE 83606 SAFETY

Description

Reflective shoe shoelaces feature an integrated reflective element – a strip woven directly into the fabric of the shoelaces. These reflective fibres ensure high visibility in reduced lighting conditions, particularly when lit by car headlights or street lighting. They thus increase safety during outdoor activities at dusk and in the dark.

Technical specifications

Round cross-section with a diameter of 4 mm, cellulose tip finish, reflective fibre woven directly into the structure of the shoelaces (not a surface treatment that wears off over time). The reflective function is passive – the shoelaces lights up whenever external light strikes it.

How does the reflective element work?

The reflective fibre contains microscopic glass beads that return a light ray back towards its source after it strikes them. This means a driver can clearly see you from 100–150 metres before you step onto the road. Unlike fluorescent colours, which work with daylight, reflective fibre works precisely in the dark – where its safety benefit is greatest.

Reflective vs. fluorescent shoelaces – which to choose?

Fluorescent shoelaces glow during the day – their vivid colour absorbs sunlight and returns it at a more intense shade. Reflective shoelaces are passive and only light up in the dark when headlight beams strike them. If you move mainly at night along roads and pedestrian crossings, reflective is the safer choice. For daytime running, fluorescent shoelaces are more visible from a distance.
